Welcome to the Dublin Partners in Education (DPIE) STEAM Enrichment Academy frequently asked questions (FAQs) page. We are very pleased to bring our summer program to Dublin Unified School District elementary students as well as elementary students in surrounding districts for the summer of 2017.

We hope the following topics assist you to better understand our program and answer your questions.

WHERE WILL DPIE STEAM ENRICHMENT ACADEMY CLASSES BE HELD?

Classes will be held at the newest school in the district, Green Elementary School located at 3300 Antone Way. in Dublin.

WHAT ARE THE DAYS/HOURS FOR THE STEAM ENRICHMENT ACADEMY?

Our elementary program will begin on Monday June 12. Please check our main page for details.

This year we are offering both morning (8:30-11:30am) and afternoon (12:00-3:00pm) classes in three 2-week sessions as follows:

SESSION 1: June 12 - June 23
SESSION 2: June 26 - July 7
SESSION 3: July 10 - July 21

HOW MANY COURSES MAY MY CHILD ENROLL IN?

Each student may participate in two classes per session, one morning & one afternoon class.  

WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY STUDENT TO ENROLL IN THE STEAM ENRICHMENT ACADEMY?

California does not fund summer courses for any California public school district. Without your fees, there could not be a STEAM Enrichment Academy. The good news is that our fees are competitive with both private and public options in the Bay Area.

WHAT DOES THIS FEE COVER?

DPIE charges a fee for STEAM Enrichment Academy to pay the costs for teacher and staff salaries, plus additional mandatory employer expenses, rental of facilities and classrooms, utility charges, maintenance, materials, supplies and other related costs.

HOW MUCH DOES THE ACADEMY COST?

We use tiered pricing to encourage parents to enroll their chidlren early. Since Sessions 1 & 3 are two days longer than Session 2, the cost for those two sessions is slightly higher to cover increased costs.

     Enroll by April 30 - $400
     Enroll beginning May 1 - $425

SESSION 2
     Enroll by April 30 - $375
     Enroll beginning May 1 - $400

WHY DO SESSIONS 1 & 3 COST MORE THAN SESSION 2?

Because of the 4th of July holiday, session 2 is two days shorter than sessions 1 & 3 therefore the reduced cost for session 2.

WHAT METHOD OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

When you enroll online, you will be required to pay the enrollment fee with your credit card. Our website is secure and encrypted so you can feel safe in paying online. Your card number is not stored.

WHO CAN ENROLL IN THE STEAM ENRICHMENT ACADEMY?

Students who will be entering grades K through 5 next school year may enroll with us. Students from all schools in the district are welcome in the program as long as space is available.

HOW DO I ENROLL MY CHILD FOR THE STEAM ENRICHMENT ACADEMY?

Enrollment in our program takes place online at www.dpie.org. Click on the “Summer Programs” drop down menu at the top of the page and select STEAM Enrichment Academy. You will now be on the STEAM home page. There you will find information regarding class offerings, class times, costs and links to Course Descriptions and the online enrollment page.

HOW WILL CLASSES BE FILLED?

Classes will be filled on a first come, first served basis, as determined by the date stamp at the completion of enrollment. Seating is limited so please consider enrolling early. Once you have completed enrollment you will be notified as soon as the course is filled.

WHY ARE COURSES NOT GRADED?

All elementary school STEAM courses are designed to be of high interest and geared towards enriching student learning and generating interest in higher level STEAM courses at the middle and high school levels. The idea is for students to have fun while they are learning new ideas and concepts that spur their interest in furthering their education.

WHEN CAN I REGISTER MY STUDENT?

Enrollment will begin at noon on Thursday, March 23, 2017

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY STUDENT’S SCHEDULE AND ROOM ASSIGNMENT?

You will be advised by email as soon as your student has been confirmed in a full class. Schedules, teacher assignments and maps of the campus will be mailed at least a week before classes begin.

WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?

Since all teachers are hired based on demand for courses, we have a NO REFUND POLICY. We are a non-profit organization and cannot afford to subsidize the STEAM Enrichment Academy, therefore, when you enroll your child, you are making a financial commitment to their education and the Academy. Refunds will only be given if a course does not fill.

WHAT IS THE ATTENDANCE POLICY?

Since you are enrolling your child in our program to learn as well as to enjoy learning, our recommendation is that you do not miss a day of our program.  However, since there are no grades in the program it is not mandatory that students attend on a daily basis.  However, there are no refunds for missed attendance once a student is enrolled.

MAY WE TAKE MORE THAN ONE CLASS AT A TIME THROUGH DPIE STEAM ENRICHMENT ACADEMY?

Yes, students may enroll in two courses per session, one morning and one afternoon course

WILL THERE BE A PRINCIPAL FOR THE ACADEMY?

Yes, elementary Administrators Brett Nelson, Heather Ghereben and Lori Ventura will who serve as the Principals for the STEAM Academy program.

WILL THERE BE LUNCH SERVED?

No, if your child will take 2 courses in any of our sessions, you will need to send them to school with a prepared lunch.

Both morning and afternoon courses will have a 10 minute break so please send your student with snacks to have during those breaks.
