Help the DHS InvenTeam Get to Cambridge
Dublin High School’s InventTeam designed a device to assist participants in the special Olympics. The InvenTeam is now fundraising to produce and promote their invention. Learn more about the project and how to donate on the InventTeam’s official webpage.
The Lemelson-MIT program is an organization that celebrates the spirit of invention in aspiring engineers through a national grant initiative for students in grades 7-12. The Dublin High School InvenTeam was selected as a recipient for a 2017-2018 Lemelson-MIT $9,000 grant. They are just one of 15 high schools selected across the country (there were 8,000 applicants)!
Our amazing DHS students are developing SpORT (Special Olympics Robotic Thrower), an assistive device that will allow wheelchair-bound students to participate in ball sports at the Tri-Valley Special Olympics.
I have the honor of mentoring these students to help with marketing and fundraising. The grant money they receive will build the final machine; however, they need to raise approximately $20,000 to offset the cost of additional prototyping materials, team travel to Eurekafast (June 2018), shipping costs, and the promotional items they need to create the best product possible.
Help these students get to Cambridge!
Please consider making a personal or corporate donation. You can write a check to the group or donate online through Dublin Partners in Education (DPIE). 100% of all funds donated through DPIE go directly to the team. As the Associated Student Body (ASB) and DPIE are nonprofit organizations, your donation may be tax deductible.
