BollyWood Dance Class for Kids

Instructor: Professional Dance Instructors from BollyNaach Dance Company

Course Description: A fun-filled introduction to beginner & intermediate Bollywood dance for kids. Instruction includes foundational movements, fundamental techniques, hand gestures, rhythmic patterns & communicative expressions. Students will learn dance routines choreographed to snippets of popular Bollywood songs as well as some Koliwood and Tollywood songs from the South Indian cinema. The classes will also strengthen individual coordination and rhythmic skills through various exercises and drills.

Additionally, students will develop a vocabulary of common Bollywood dance moves that they can string together to create their own unique dance. This class will provide exposure to kids on many different dance styles as Bollywood has become a melting pot of many popular traditional and western dance styles.

Chess Academy For Kids

Course Description: Learn chess with Pacific Chess Academy! This program is a great opportunity for kids to learn how to overcome obstacles, think strategically, and stay focused. Specifically designed for young players with various levels (Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced), the course offers video lessons, easy-to-follow instructions, individual recommendations, and preparation to chess tournaments. The use of the modern technology (projectors, iPad, teaching software) makes the learning process easy, fast, and fun! The class is offered to grades 1-5. All necessary equipment (boards and pieces, clocks, demo tools) provided. Participants receive certificates and trophies at the end of the school year.

Course Description: We all know writing is an integral part of all subject matters in education. Being able to express yourself through writing and articulate the subject matter has now become one of the critical means to success. This course will engage those skills where your child will develop into an author. Each week we will cover a mini lesson, each lesson will build into ultimately publishing a book. At the end of the 10 sessions your child will come home with a complete book based on a subject of their choosing. Each time this class is offered lessons will vary as no two classes are the same.

Goals for creative writing class - Participants will:

  • Engage in learning activities that give them positive, confidence-building with writing;
  • Develop storytelling skills;
  • Utilize technology to self-publish their works;
  • Become equipped with the tools to organize his or her ideas;
  • Learn how to hook readers with a strong introduction; and
  • Paint pictures with well-chosen words.

Course Description: Does your child love to write and use their imagination to come up with creative stories? Then this is the class for them! Through several different writing activities, we will explore possible ways to think outside of the box and get truly original ideas on paper! We'll experiment with character and plot development in ways that are unique and new from Roll-A-Character stories to Plot-Character-Setting Card stories and so much more! I can't wait to see what we come up with!

Course Description: Join Ms. Miller's interactive inventions course and you will discover “why” and "how" common electrical components work in your home. Come invent and create memories using STEAM while building inventions such as a spinning motor, a telegraph, or a light flashing generator. The creations are mind blowing! Whether you’ve been in the course before or you’re new to Inventor’s Workshop, you will be exposed to new ideas and activities.

Course Description: Don’t just teach kids to count, teach them what counts most! Yoga for kids develops the whole child, providing a solid base for a life full of curiosity, learning, and wisdom. In this course, your child will have fun practicing challenging poses, partner & group poses, and playing yoga games. In addition, your child will learn how to focus and center themselves through various breathing and visualization techniques. Together, we will foster confidence and build resilience, creativity, strength and flexibility in both body and emotional regulation. Course Description: Every child can be an artist but sometimes we need a starting point and the opportunity to grow! This fun and dynamic course allows your child to hone in on their artistic abilities and learn how to draw and create their own masterpieces. All they have to do is follow step-by-step directions. We will be sketching first and then move to applying different mediums such as watercolor and oil pastels. This course allows your child to practice their ability to follow one and two step directions, work on their fine motor development, and have fun in the process. Insider Tip: We will be drawing monkeys, giraffes, sea turtles, self-portraits, and more! Some fridge worthy art will be coming your way!

The Actors’ Workshop!

Course Description: It’s laughter, learning and limelight with the After School Drama Club’s The Actor’s Workshop! Through a fun series of theater games, acting exercises and scripted scene work, this introductory acting class teaches the fundamentals of the actor’s craft. Students explore the “three tools of the actor” – voice, body and imagination – as they learn how to create characters, interpret scripts and perform for an audience. The class teaches true theater skills such as stagecraft, emotionally truthful acting, and professional theater etiquette, while encouraging creativity and inspiring the imagination. The class culminates with a free workshop presentation of scenes and monologues for an invited audience.

Course Description: Students will will take on the role of engineers as they use their imagination and investigation skills to design projects that help solve world problems. They will work in collaborative teams as they plan, design, create, and explain a variety of engineering projects. We will start with literature as we become inspired by ideas within the stories that we read. Students will be given materials, restraints, and a purpose for each of their designs. Using iPads, Students will work in teams as they use the engineering model to design their projects, test their designs, and explain how these models can help solve problems or make improvements in the real world.

Students will use their imagination as they face challenges in different subject areas.They will use Math to measure designs, Writing to explain their designs, Public Speaking to teach others about their models, Technology as they use iPads to help create and share their designs, and Collaboration as they work in teams to solve problems and make improvements. Students will have opportunities to tap into their creativity as they investigate and explore the many ideas and knowledge all around them.

Course Description: BLAST OFF! Join Ms. McCrory and watch your student transform from student to astronaut. In this STEAM enrichment course, your child will soar through the Milky Way Galaxy and learn about the planets that rotate around our sun, our home planet, and so much more. The possibilities are literally endless! These activities and projects are out of this world, to infinity and beyond!
